Manufacture de Sèvres, France’s renowned porcelain craftsmanship has collaborated with French designer Ronan Bouroullec to bring to life the Lampes Sèvres Exhibition. The lamps are out showcasing an amalgamation of contemporary objects fulfilling the commitment to artistry and craft.
These lamps have a distinctive look and appeal assigned to them. ‘Sèvres’ lamps are made using crisp and clean aluminum base available in three heights and sizes combining traditional craftsmanship with age-old techniques. The lamps are sure to add grace and compliment your interior.
The trio lamp collection is well-defined by a porcelain aureole (mushroom-shaped) combining a minimal design gesture. A subtle light is given out via a light source positioned below the lamp. A soft color palette is intertwined delicately in the lamp’s body.
Bouroullec’s research into the company’s archives has lent to the capturing of ethereal glaze. The lamps are envisioned in regard to the designer’s quest for delicacy and mastery. Multi-tonal abstract patterns on these lamps are a direct result of the uncertain and unique making process. After being hand-thrown in the large Manufacture de Sèvres studio, the porcelain aureoles are then spray-glazed.

Resembling the exploding effect of fireworks or celestial constellations, Sèvres Lamps have attempted to ape them in movement, color and detail. Since each design could be a sea anemone, a portion of sky, a flash of light in space, or human iris; it attracts and captures the viewer’s attention in a myriad of ways.
‘It all quite delicately explodes in the kiln, and when the pieces are taken out, you’re not quite sure if they might be alive,’ says Bouroullec. Lampes Sèvres by Ronan Bouroullec is on view until 25 November 2023 at Galerie de Sèvres.
