An armchair is a comfortable piece of furniture that finds a place in our indoor and outdoor settings. Various armchairs with different styles and shapes are in the market to cater to different spaces. It is only natural to use a wide array of materials to create these chairs to achieve distinct shapes and styles. American designer Stephen Burks has designed a minimalistic armchair for Dedon, a Germany-based furniture brand that pioneers in outdoor furniture. Named the Kida armchair, the furniture symbolizes creativity by embracing modest design with fluid curves that seem to be floating on a mid-century sled base.

The Kida armchair has been made by wrapping fibers around the framework. It is based on the Kida hanging lounge chair that uses the same wrapping technique. The seat has a cocoon-like shape that allows a comfortable posture for the user. The frame of this armchair has been made using aluminum contributing to its light weight and sturdy structure. The designer worked on the design part while the fabric was interwoven by Dedon’s weavers in the Philippines.

According to Burks, “Kida is all about innovation and expressiveness. The use of wrapped Dedon fiber helps in providing color, character, attractiveness, and distinctive look to the armchair.”

The Kida armchair can be used for both indoor and outdoor seating. It is available in three colors: light-colored glow touch, dark-colored shade touch, and multicolored line touch. The chairs come with back and seat cushions for comfortable seating. The fabrics are available in a variety of colors. The price of the Kida armchair is unknown as it is not mentioned on Dedon’s website. It can be found at the company’s stores across the globe.
