Currently, I am on a candle-making roll. I am obsessed with the way these tiny hunks of wax light our homes and spread sweet scents. I have learned a lot through trial and error and I wish to share some of it with my readers so you can stop spending big bucks on candles that you can easily make at home and get yourself a spa day from the money you’ll save. In the breath, let’s learn how to DIY bubble candle at home. You can check out the video tutorial attached below.

It is a fairly simple task. You need a few ingredients and must take note of certain things. One of the latter is to match the temperature of your mold before pouring the wax into it. You can use a heat gun or throw the mold in the microwave for a few seconds to preheat it.

Materials Used:

  • Small bubble silicone mold
  • Cotton wick and needle
  • Wick holders
  • Soy wax

How to Make a Batch of Tiny Bubble Candle at Home

  • Start by melting soy wax in a pan. You can use a double boiler method, which is the same for melting chocolate. But I simply put it in a regular pan and place it over low heat
  • While the wax is melting, you need to needle your cotton wicks into the silicone mold (I used a mold with 15 cavities and needled all the molds) and secure it with a holder to keep the wick centered. The easy way to wick bubble candle molds is to flip the mold upside down and needle through the center and out on the other side
  • Stir in your choice of color if you want to. Mind you, liquid dyes work best if you are a beginner (let me tell you a secret, I still haven’t mastered the powder dyes) and essential oils if using any
  • Now pour the wax in the molds one by one if you are using a multi-cavity one. Once the wax is in, give the molds a gentle tap on the sides to release any air bubbles that can damage the look of your candles and give an uneven burn
  • Leave the candles aside for an hour or two before demolding
  • If you are using fragrances, let the candles cure for at least two weeks before lighting them. This waiting period will allow the scents to blend with the wax to give you an even burn and fragrance

And that is it. See how easy it is. It takes about 15 minutes and you are left with over a dozen baubles of joy. These can be used around holidays, during calming baths, or offered as presents to friends and family.

If there is anything that you’d do differently, I would love to know your thoughts. Check out the video tutorial below if the written word was a little murky to understand. And if you try it, let me know in the comments.
