Harnessing the never-ending appetite for design in India, the UK-based Montgomery Group (independent event organizers) will be organizing the inaugural edition of India’s mega-scale tradeshow ‘Design Mumbai’. The event is scheduled to take place in Mumbai’s Jio World Garden from 6 to 9 November 2024.

During this four-day event, a curated selection of pieces by esteemed designers, top architects, and local and global brands will be exhibited. Attendees can explore fresh venues and thought-provoking installations alongside a lineup of both regional and international brands. The event curated by Montgomery Group is headed up by a trio of design specialists that includes Ian Rudge, Michael Dynan, and Piyush Suri.

“It will be the first contemporary design show in India with an international perspective and exhibitor presence, showcasing leading brands, manufacturers, and designers,” states Ian during the Zoom interaction with Homecrux. “The event will serve as a platform for international and Indian designers under the same spotlight, providing networking opportunities for many international brands to collaborate with the emerging talent from the Indian sub-continent, which has been overlooked for many years,” he added.

Some of the notable brands and individuals that will mark their presence in the elite event include Zaha Hadid Studio, Poltrona Frau, de Sede, VitrA, and Michael Young. The event will also host some local participants including AndBlack Design, AKFD Studio, INKA, and Loco Design.

“It is India’s first design show with an international brand presence and perspective, offering new insights to both newcomers and experts in the Indian design market,” Piyush Suri tells Homecrux while elucidating his thoughts on the forthcoming event. It is worth noting that Design Mumbai will be a juried event. Every exhibitor will be carefully chosen and vetted or will be invited to take part by a professional panel of advisors and organizers.

Homecrux aims to provide detailed coverage of the event. Stay tuned for more updates.
