Post-pandemic, Philips has invested more in the domain of health technology than household appliances. COVID-19 and other medical crises have directed attention of the consumer electronics giant’s attention toward building a medical infrastructure and developing medical imaging equipment. However, this shift doesn’t imply that the company has neglected household appliances completely. Philips had something big wrapped under the curtains until it was leaked in the blogosphere this past week. As per HueBlog, Philips Hue’s latest innovation is a smart bedside lamp.

Dubbed Twilight, the modern bedside lamp is available in both black and white color. The lamp boasts a cork-like base that might double as a charger, though this is unconfirmed for now. Initially, it appeared that the lamp was devoid of a physical switch and relied on a touch-sensitive surface. However, more leaks confirmed, that there are a couple of buttons located on the top that control the power, scene selection, and sleep automation There is no clarity on whether the lamp incorporates additional buttons or not.

According to trusted leaks, the lamp offers a dual light source (one at the rear and one at the front) promising versatile illumination. The biggest USP of the bedside lamp is separate controls for its front shade light and rear light bar, enabling users to customize brightness levels and choose between white and colored lighting options. It supports preset scenes and includes a feature-rich app interface for remote control via Bluetooth connectivity.

The lamp’s design stands 12.9 inches (approx) tall, and is complemented by a coordinating power cord from its base. Key specifics such as peak brightness, pricing, and release date are yet to be disclosed, though rumors suggest an official launch could occur later this year.
