Especially designed for readers and their bookshelves, the Storie di Luce – designed by Italy-based maker of handcrafted lamps Catellani & Smith – is rechargeable, battery-operated lamp. Its conspicuous book-shaped design blends into any bookcase and becomes one with your books.

It has a metal structure, brass flex, and the cord made from copper. To make it look like an actual book, all the wiring is hidden in a hardcover, bound in tailor-made Havana colored paper. It is wrapped in Setalux magenta half-cloth and has gold foil stamping to make more exquisite and book like.

“Catellani & Smith narrates its Storie di Luce in a unique volume that captivates its ‘readers.’ A book without pages, an original piece that is able to illuminate the bookshelf, accentuating the details of the books,” Cinzia Caligiuri from Catellani & Smith’s press office told Homecrux in an exclusive chat.

The light source is interchangeable LED, with power supply, USB charger with EU plug, and on-off toggle switch on the base. The process of turning it on and off is simple and effortless, you just need to gently pull the blue bookmark cord at the base of it and let it work its magic. Just a tender touch and this book-shaped lamp transforms your bookshelf into a captivating sight, like a portal to the realm of fantasy.

With this lamp, you get to witness an impeccable show of light and shadow. When it illuminates, it infuses a soft and warm glow that evokes a sense of calm while allowing you to admire your books in a gentle light.

While it is designed to be placed individually between books, on a bedside table, or on a shelf, it can also be paired with more than one lamp to bring out an entirely different personality to your space. You can highlight your eclectic book collection and make a statement with the Storie di Luce. Notably, “This is not a series production lamp, however the company still has some pieces left,” Caligiuri says.
