Chillshark Turns Your Existing Bathtub Into Cold Plunge

But the experience will cost you an arm and a leg

I stumbled upon a device called Chillshark while scrolling through my social media feed this morning. An influencer was singing praises of the product, so I decided to see what the fuss was about. Turns out Chillshark is a sleek device that converts any tub into a cold plunge by pumping water into the chiller and dispensing it back into your tub at a lower temperature.

But you (and I) have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on it because Chillshark is in the prototype stage for now and is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter. Through the company’s official website, we learn that the device is sleek (it’s about the size of a small cooler, so it won’t take up much space in your bathroom) and has some positive reviews from early testers.

Since, I have seen a lot of people rave about the benefits of cold plunging, which includes improved recovery, better sleep, and a boosted immune system, I feel it’s high time I get one too. Launched on Kickstarter, this chiller promises to cool your water down to a bracing 37°F (that’s about 3°C for the metric) in as little as 45 minutes. I like the idea of this slow cold plunging rather than getting into frigid water at once. Now the question arises, how does it operate?

Keegan O’ Connor, the founder of Chillshark says, “Hook up the Chillshark to your tub and let the device do the rest.” If it’s that easy I am sold. The device comes with a companion app that lets you control the temperature of the water and schedule your sessions. In addition to this, the application tracks key metrics and offers real-time insight into your recovery process.

For those interested, you can preorder Chillshark for $3,500 (early bird price). I know it’s quite expensive but it’s always better to choose quality over compromise. The company also offers higher tiers that include extras like a custom carrying case or even a dual-chiller bundle for the hardcore cold plungers out there.
