While there are many self-cleaning cat litter boxes like PETLUX V3, most of them rely on litter that can get messy with cat paws. California-based PetyPot wants to change that by replacing the litter in a cat toilet with a roller-based pad system. There is no need for scooping anymore as PetyPot litter-free cat toilet automatically packs and replaces the used pad with a fresh one to ensure cleanliness every time.
After a cat finishes its business, built-in sensors automatically start the self-cleaning cycle after its exit. The process starts from rolling up the used pad with all the waste into a sealed and compressed waste roll to contain odors and maintain cleanliness. At the same time, a fresh pad is unrolled from a clean roll to ensure the toilet is always ready for the next use. The pads are made from 80 percent waste wood fiber and 20 percent recycled polymers to ensure an eco-friendly design.
One roll lasts for up to 15 days for a single cat or up to eight days for three cats. When the roll is finished, you need to replace it with a new one. PetyPot stores the sealed waste pad in a special container to lock in odors. For extra odor control, you can also add a carbon filter.
When it comes to safety, PetyPot is equipped with weight sensors to prevent the self-cleaning cycle from starting while a cat is inside. If a cat enters mid-cycle, the system stops immediately to avoid any risk. All moving parts are carefully designed to ensure the safety of cat paws, tails, and even human hands.
PetyPot self-cleaning cat box can be controlled remotely with the companion mobile app. You can start the cleaning process, set a timer for automatic cleaning from your phone. The app also provides real-time updates of usage statistics, quantity of clean pads, and other relevant information.
This self-cleaning cat toilet comes with an AI camera that helps monitor your cat’s health. It checks stool and urine by tracking things like color, size, and amount. The white pad makes it easy to see everything clearly. You can also track how often your cat visits, how long it stays, and changes in its weight.

PetyPot features an open-top design with low entry points on all sides, making it accessible for cats of all sizes and ages. The simple design with fewer, removable parts makes cleaning easy. You only need to wipe it down with a damp cloth. The tray mimics the shape of a traditional litter box to help cats adapt quickly. When starting, you can place it in the desired spot, add a bit of litter for a familiar scent, and gradually reduce the amount over time.
If you want to get the PetyPot litter-free cat toilet, it is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. You can pledge the project for $355 to get one in September 2025.
