TCL Launches QM8K Mini-LED TV With Improved Blooming Control, Brightness and Dimming Zones

Achieves great color accuracy out-of-the-box

TCL has been continuously improving its range of QD-Mini LED TVs. Following the previously launched QM6K at CES 2025, the company has launched the QM8K model with improved blooming control achieved through the CrystGlow WHVA panel with ZeroBorder and Halo Control System. Furthermore, the new Micro OD shortens the optical space between the backlight and diffuser to reduce light overlap, which helps in preventing blooming or halo effects.

The TCL QM8K has a sleek, premium look with a combined bezel and border width of just 3–4mm, achieved using materials like aerospace-grade aluminum, anodized ceramic film, and small-scale LCD panel drivers that prevent warping or light leaks. The anti-reflective panel with an ultra-wide viewing angle virtually eliminates color shift with a 40 percent wider color-viewing angle than its predecessor.

The Halo Control System uses a 23-bit backlight controller for precise brightness across 65,000 levels. It offers 35 percent more dimming zones for better HDR impact and 65 percent higher peak brightness than the previous QM851G series.

The improved QD-Mini LED backlight and high-contrast WHVA panel block more light for deeper blacks and provide up to five times better contrast. Furthermore, the TV uses a new Color Optimization Algorithm and brighter Quantum Crystals for more accurate, vibrant colors. “Stop the FOMO” YouTube channel compared it with Sony Bravia 9, so you can expect what picture quality it will be offering.

The TV range reaches a peak brightness of HDR5000 while supporting up to LD3800 dimming zones. Other highlighting features are Filmmaker Mode, Bang & Olufsen Audio, automatic tone mapping, 144Hz native panel refresh rate, Dolby Vision IQ, and HDR10+ support.

The TCL QM8K mini-LED TV can also be enhanced with a thinner, flatter cabinet design for flush wall mounting, and an elegant pedestal for use as home theater furniture. It is available now with prices starting from $2,300 for a 65-inch model and $3,800 for an 85-inch model.
