In the AI-driven world, where everything is going awry, someone still retains their sanity. It is old-school with a modernized fold, yet remains absolutely distant from the ruckus of artificial intelligence and the unnecessary gimmick of smart and connected. This is the WallGrill Barbecue! It is what it is: A novelty grill that mounts on a wall in the backyard and lets you do the best thing you know: Grill your favorite foods without the unnecessary alerts, notifications, or automation.
If you like taking matters into your own hands – and don’t want AI to touch your steak – this is hands down the best grill to get. With the WallGrill, you’re always in full control of what and how you’re barbecuing.
Designed and developed by SteakStones, WallGrill is the most compact and quick-fire way to enjoy cooking outdoors. No matter the type of space: A wall in your yard or even the spare wheel on the back of your Defender (the company is working on a custom attachment to clip the grip over your 4×4’s spare wheels), it can mount just about anywhere, giving you an instant surface to get grilling.
WallGrill is created with the simple idea of ease of use, convenience of cleaning, and hassle-free storage. Its ingenious folding design is made from powder-coated carbon steel. You simply drill a couple of holes in the wall, screw the grill’s backplate in place, and the WallGrill is ready to cook without any typical hassles of set-up and cleaning: two things that make some enthusiasts rue the entire idea of grilling outdoors.

At the heart of the carbon steel body is the Lava Stone that forms the cooking surface. The Lava Stone has been through testing at the World Steak Challenge, where it has proven its mettle, and is now integrated into the WallGrill to be the cooking surface that can perfectly sear in all the flavour of your chosen meat, fish, or vegetables.
For an idea of where you can mount it, WallGrill has a back plate measuring 60 cm (24 inches) in diameter, while the FireBowl itself is 50 cm (20 inches). The stone inside has a diameter of 36 cm (14 inches), which is plenty of space for your favourite selection of steaks, sausages, or burgers, or just about anything you want for your barbecue party.
Getting started with the grill is fascinating. When mounted but not in use, it closes up snug to the wall. To use, lower the lid, fill the fire bowl with coal, and insert the stone in place over the coal. “Half a bag of coals will provide well over an hour of searing heat,” SteakStones notes. In only a few minutes of lighting the coal, the stone gets to a searing heat. You can start cooking right away; no need for the fire to die down first. WallGrill is designed in a way that the stone prevents the food from any flare-ups, so there is no burning. “This means no harmful carcinogens which you’re exposed to when flames are passing through your traditional barbecue grate,” the company assures.
The Lava Stone is effortless to wipe and clean, which is another added advantage over cleaning the grates. I know what you’re thinking: We all love barbecuing, but the botheration of cleaning after every use, it’s just a put-off. Not so with the WallGrill; just scoop out the used coals from the fire bowl, close up the grill, and give the stone a quick clean, and you’re already set for the next grilling session in no time.
This convenience is within reach, the grill is currently enjoying its time in a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, where you can pre-book the WallGrill at 40 percent off now for £150 (approximately $250). Delivery is expected in September 2025.
