LEGO-loving adults are in for a treat this holiday season. If you haven’t already got your hands on the $1,000 LEGO Planet Destroyer or the Hogsmeade Village – Collectors’ Edition, you have actually missed out on a lot of fun. Before you get there, LEGO is again teasing your bricknerdism with the release of a 4,154-piece tropical aquarium set, which obviously doesn’t come cheap, but has the potential to turn a corner of your house dramatically yours with its nuance and tranquility.

The aquarium comes packed with four colorful tropical fish, vibrant marine plants, and a lot of movable surprises

Created with the idea of allowing builders to explore the marine life and its beauty through the lens of LEGO bricks, the aquarium comes packed with four colorful tropical fish, vibrant marine plants, and a lot of movable surprises inside a black tank. Each fish is designed with a unique color theme and realistic fin movements inspired by real-life species. Other interesting residents within the tank include a variety of coral, sea worms, sea snails, and an oyster shell with a pearl. For added authenticity, the tank also features model air bubbles.

The unique brick-built underwater display, part of the LEGO Icons collection, can become an interesting setup for home or office once you have put all of the 4,154 pieces of the LEGO set in order. The set includes step-by-step instructions designed for intermediate to advanced builders. Measuring over 14 inches high, 20.5 inches wide, and 11 inches deep, the detailed brick-built tropical aquarium can be bred to life by using hidden levers to move the plants and fish like real creatures.

Each of the fish is designed with unique color

By rotating the concealed knobs, you can have the fish swimming within the aquarium, while the coral sways, and a crab surprising erupts out of the underwater cave with the turn of a ‘stone’ element. A treasure chest inside opens up by turning the crank behind it. The playful idea can seem kiddish because LEGO brands this set for adults ages 18 and up.

I don’t personally think we should look at it that way; the complexity of the build is clearly targeted at the hobbyists and collectors. Of course, parents can build, and kids can show off the aquarium to their friends or maybe get involved in the construction itself under supervision. That said, the interested LEGO Insiders can get their hands on the Tropical Aquarium Set starting November 13, i.e., three days ahead of the regular release of the set on November 16, 2025. The brick set is priced at $480.
