Misty clouds over the North Sea add a soft, mysterious, and dramatic touch to the scenery. Just by looking at this, the soul feels at peace and revitalized to the brim. Inspired by this feeling, Noord see Lights, an Amsterdam-based lighting brand, designed the Mist pendant lamp. Currently being displayed at the Dutch Design Week, it is a sustainable white pendant lamp that embodies the stunning seascape magic in its design while expressing an interplay of light and shadow.
The pattern of the Mist pendant lamp was inspired by the genus of saltwater Ensis shell, also known as razor shell. This is what creates a natural depth with all those waves and adds a subtle play of light and shadow. It also gives the lamp a calming beach vibe.
Talking about specifications, this beautiful pendant lamp is 0.84 feet in length and width and 0.82 feet in height. Weighing 0.76 lbs, the lamp is 3D-printed using recycled biobased PLA and PLA with recycled wood, thereby making it sustainable and eco-friendly.
It requires a voltage of 230 V and 50 Hz. The wire of this pendant lamp is made from braided hemp, another sustainable material. The LED pendant light comes with a standard E27 bulb that illuminates softly.
The pendant lamp has a seashell white shade and a white wood base. The ceiling plate is made from aluminum with a white matte finish. Since the lamp is made by 3D printing, it adds a slightly different texture and color variation to every pendant light.
The entire concept and design are really unique. The pendant lamp’s inner design pattern is lighter compared to the outer, which gives a smooth transition of glow. When turned on at night, it illuminates the entire room with a warm light that feels quite relaxing.
