Portuguese builder Madeiguincho has established itself as a pioneer in the tiny house industry. Its timber micro-dwellings embody a minimalistic aesthetic resonating well with Scandinavian design principles. To that accord, Madeiguincho’s new off-grid-ready Salga tiny house on wheels is dotted with rustic wood charm throughout and has wide windows to allow nature inside unintrupted.

Like its other models, Salga also boasts a generous utilization of natural materials while embracing biophilic design elements. It is a single-bedroom unit and is ideal for a travel-loving couple to live in permanently. Measuring 22.9 feet long and 8.2 feet wide, it is custom-created for a young couple.

You enter through a single door into the kitchen space, adjacent to the open-floor living area. The raised living area is distinctively marked by two big operable windows, a wood-fired stove, and indoor plants. There is a daybed in a corner, with floating shelves overhead. Even though it is not mentioned by the builder, we assume there to be slide-out storage underneath the elevated space.

The adjoining kitchen has an L-shaped countertop, half of which doubles as a dining space. It features a four-burner cooktop, an oven, overhead shelves, a sink, and plenty of under-counter cabinets for storage.

Past the kitchen, there is a bathroom. Similar to its predecessors, Salga also has a mudroom-style secondary entrance from the outside. The bathroom has slatted floors, a partially covered shower, a sink, and a toilet. It also has a cabinet for storing clothing and other essentials.

Overhead, a loft awaits the couple. With two operable windows, the low-ceiling loft doesn’t seem cramped. It can be reached via a removable ladder from the kitchen and has a small storage option for books and other trinkets.

The rooftop of the Salga tiny house is clad in solar panels to facilitate independence from the grid. If the design of this particular micro-dwelling tickles your fancy, you can get in touch with the builder and have one made for yourself.
