Materials needed

  • A packet of eight wood-cut out snowflake ornaments (Dollar Tree)
  • Wood stain of your choice
  • White chalk paint
  • Twine hangers
  • Small piece of sponge

Tools required

  • A flat paintbrush
  • Paper towel / Scrap paper
  • Protective craft mat or parchment paper

Instructions for DIY Frosted Wood Snowflake Ornaments

  • Make sure to remove all packaging material from the wood-cut snowflakes and lay them on the protective craft mat
  • Take the flat paintbrush and apply the wood stain; only take a little amount. Do not use too much of stain as it will not only slow down the drying but also ruin the edges of the snowflake
  • Start from the center and brush outwards. This step is important because you definitely don’t want to over-stain the snowflakes and create a damp mess. Let the stain dry completely
  • To create the frosted edges, take a small sponge and dip it in the chalk paint. Tap the sponge in paper towel to remove the excess paint
  • Only work on the edges, spare the center and start dabbing gently to create a dust like effect. Repeat the same with all the branches of snowflakes
  • Once the snowflakes have completely dried out, take the twine hangers and cut them in eight inch pieces if needed
  • Put the twine hangers in the snowflake and tie a knot in the end. Repeat the same process with all eight snowflakes

There you have it: a rustic and cozy ornament with a snowy winter effect, all ready to be hung up. The coziness brought by the rustic charm of DIY frosted wood snowflake ornaments by Crazy Craft Lady will make your festive celebrations warm and inviting. The earthiness of the craft matches effortlessly with the festive spirit that comes with Christmas celebrations.
