KIDO Standing Desk With Split-Top Design Reveals Storage When Rear Top is Lifted Up

Standing desks have evolved as ergonomic office furniture, but they often lack storage. The KIDO Desk solves this by featuring a split-top design that allows you to lift the rear top to reveal a hidden shelf to store books, hubs, and more. When closed, it creates a wide and clutter-free workspace. Crafted with Japanese woodworking techniques, this wooden desk is designed to be a beautiful centerpiece in your home or office, not hidden away in a corner.

The desk features 1.18-inch-thick front and rear tops that can be adjusted independently for an ideal setup. Lifting the rear top reveals a hidden shelf for extra storage, while two convenient front drawers provide space for daily essentials. Additionally, the rear top can be slightly raised to align with eye level, making it perfect for setting up monitors without using a separate stand.

The split-top design creates a fixed 1-inch (2.5 cm) gap between the front and rear surfaces, allowing small cables to pass through neatly when the desk is stationary. The cables can be secured with the included clips or routed through the rear grommets, with enough space left for height adjustments. To avoid damage, thick or rigid power cords should not run in the gap, but route them from inside the hidden shelf or through grommets to keep the workspace tidy.

The KIDO Desk is crafted by Japanese woodworking specialists, combining beautiful wood grain with great stability. At its core is a Danish lifting mechanism that offers smooth, quiet movement with soft-start/stop and anti-collision features. The desk adjusts from 24.8″ to 50.8″ in height while supporting up to 353 lbs (160 kg). For safety, the desk allows setting upper and lower height limits and detects obstacles to stop or reverse to prevent pinching accidents.

This height-adjustable desk includes a hidden cable management hub behind the rear top, where power and HDMI cables from dual monitors drop through rear grommets into the hub. Cables from desktop PCs or drives pass through the gap between the shelf and back panel into the same space. There are pass-through openings to connect the left and right compartments that allow motor control boxes and power strips to connect neatly. When you close the cover, all cables are hidden for a clean look. The hub height is about 2.4 inches (6 cm) by default, with custom heights available on request.

The KIDO Desk features an onboard display controller that you can tap to move the desk or double-tap to recall a saved height. It also connects to a mobile app to give you access to features like four memory presets, a key/child lock, and sit-stand reminders for healthier work habits.

Each desk is handcrafted in Japan using hardwood, with matching grain across all parts and hand-shaped edges. The wooden surfaces have a low-gloss finish for a refined look. You can choose between two wood options: Monkeypod and White Ash to suit your style and needs.

The KIDO Desk comes in two sizes: the smaller Studio 120 and the larger Classic 160. They mainly differ in size and the number of drawers. The Studio 120 can be pre-ordered for about $1,407, while the Classic 160 is priced around $1,545 on Kickstarter.
