IKEA is known for making affordable products, and its latest GÖMPYSSLING light, primarily designed for use in wardrobes, cabinets, and as nightlights, does the same. The cost of a motion sensor light for a cupboard generally ranges from $10-$50 per unit, but IKEA has launched one at half that price. IKEA already offers various options, but this one is the most affordable motion sensor light among its offerings. It functions like any other motion sensor light. But it doesn’t offer versatility in terms of brightness, color customization, and power management, which probably plays a part in keeping the cost of the light affordable.
Designed by Marcus Arvonen, the IKEA GÖMPYSSLING is a compact, rounded lamp that features a built-in, non-dimmable LED light source. It provides a fixed output of warm white light (2700 Kelvin) at 20 lumens. The tilted placement of the LED is a cool feature that directs light down at an angle to illuminate the interior of the cupboard. Unlike most competitors in the market, this motion sensor light is powered by batteries. Exclusion of power wires prevents clutter inside or around the cupboard.
The light is equipped with a passive infrared sensor (PIR) that turns it on after detecting movement and turns off after 10 seconds without movement. It will not detect your movement if you have not opened the cupboard door, as the hard surface blocks the infrared connectivity. This battery-powered motion-sensor light illuminates your cupboard as soon as you open the door.
Installation is effortless, as you can mount it to different types of furniture with the attached gel pad. This low-cost motion sensor light will make finding your stuff inside a cupboard quite easy. IKEA claims that each light provides up to 25,000 hours of lifespan.

The IKEA GÖMPYSSLING motion sensor lights are now available to purchase in the UK for a price of £3, about $4 for a two-pack, which is significantly lower than most options. The only features it lacks are that it doesn’t allow you to adjust the brightness and does not include a built-in rechargeable battery, which may be useful for some, but most will be happy with the motion-sensing tech. What most homeowners want is an easy and budget-friendly way to lighten up cupboards without making a burden on their earnings, and this does it efficiently.
