Your poop determines your health, so you’d better not underestimate it. If you feel there’s something wrong with your gut, then co-founder John Capodilupo has come up with a solution in the form of the Throne for you. The smart on-toilet sensor uses computer vision to study the contents inside the toilet bowl. It determines clinical biomarkers and helps you understand your digestive pattern with alerts on your phone.

Sounds ridiculous? But this is the primary purpose of the device. It tracks your bowel motions, bathroom habits, hydration levels, and urination using a microphone, 2 MP camera with 12mm lens, ambient light sensor, LED illuminator ring, and TMOS (Thermal Metal Oxide Semiconductor) motion sensor, and provides timely feedback. It is a potent device that whoever suffering from excrement and gut problems needs in their toilet.

This tiny device sits on the side of your toilet bowl and notes everything that has been going on in your bowel. It has a powerful hardware design with a downward-facing camera, which is competent enough to track your bathroom visits, the texture, and the size and volume of your motions. The device further discerns your overall gut health, turning bathroom habits into clinical insights. The Throne is rechargeable and can last for a month on a single charge.

Since it needs charging, you don’t have to drag the device from the bathroom all the way to your room. It comes with a 13-foot-long charging cable, which is long enough to reach your nearest charging outlet. Or, you can charge the device using a USB-C external battery, which is not included in the package. You must buy it separately. For cleaning it, simply use any disinfecting wipes. Other than this, no extra care is required.

Crafted from polycarbonate plastic with antimicrobial additives, the on-seat tracker is waterproof with an IPX65 rating and comes with 2 soft-touch manual assignment buttons. You can also pair the Throne tracker with its dedicated app, so as soon as you flush, all the insights of your daily routine – how your gut is responding to your new diet or if your probiotics are working – show up in the app within minutes.

The Throne is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled and can be paired with 6 mobile devices simultaneously. It’s understandable to be concerned about privacy with the tracker in your bathroom. The Throne is designed to protect your intimate and sensitive data. It has a lens angled downwards to precisely scan only the contents in your toilet, but not without your consent.

The collected data is encrypted and secured with bank-grade security. You can check out the Throne’s website to learn more about its security procedures. Available for preorder at $340, the Throne on-toilet sensor will retail for $399 and $6 for an app membership. The membership fee is waived if you preorder now. Deliveries are expected to begin in February 2026.
