Mitsubishi’s latest showcase at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon provides a glimpse into what the brand has been planning for the future. A total of 11 vehicles were on display, but it is the camper version of the Delica Mini that garnered plenty of limelight. Commonly considered as a super height-wagon kei-car, this vehicle has been transformed into an off-road home on wheels.

The 4WD Mitsubishi Delica Mini Active Camper version comes with a 660cc engine that reaches 64 hp, using a cooled turbocharger to provide hill-climbing ability. It also comes with the JAOS BATTLEZ Lift-Up Set S suspension upgrade with a 5 mm lift for enhanced off-road capability. The DAYTONA M9+ 15-inch wheels paired with GEOLANDAR X-AT 165 tires further ensure a smooth ride quality, even in harsh terrain.

As the Delica Mini version measures only 133.7 inches long, it is quite difficult to accommodate the required facilities for a comfortable stay, but the Mitsubishi design team has done great work. They have opted for a roof-mounted pop-up tent that creates the desired living space without interfering with the seating area. The tent offers a sufficient sleeping area for two people. As per the spec sheet, the camper weighs about 1,060 kgs.

The Delica Mini Active Camper comes with an all-weather mat, gate grip, and wood floor, for a minimalist look. Mitsubishi has also added a number of features to the exterior, including an awning, a mud flap, a front skid bar, and side decals. There is an option to include roof rail, adaptive LED headlights, and the Cold Region Plus Package to survive in winter.

The Delica Mini, despite its small footprint, has been creatively turned into a camper van that can go through even the smallest roads. Currently in prototype stage, the van demonstrates the possibility of the minivan for an outdoorsy lifestyle.
