Making miniature houses and popular characters from LEGO bricks has become quite popular among people, but the feeling of creating something realistic is totally different. Previously, we saw British inventor and engineer Ruth Amos create a life-size Christmas tree from LEGO bricks; now, British outdoor enthusiast Andrew Davidson of the Kent Survival YouTube Channel has built a giant LEGO camping shelter that feels like a childhood dream come true.

Surprisingly, the entire structure has been completed in three hours by just one person, and it is livable to some extent. Transforming a child’s play into a real shelter may seem unusual, but it shows what heights imagination can reach in reality.

The video shows the YouTuber and survivor arriving at a wooded site with ten boxes of huge plastic bricks in his truck. These bricks feature a similar design to LEGO ones, but have been scaled up to a larger size. He has used 8-stud and 4-stud versions, totaling 1,400 pieces.

The LEGO project begins with a wooden platform for the base, on which he has layered all the blocks, creating four walls of the shelter. The walls are made by stacking larger 8-stud blocks and adding some 4-stud pieces to maintain balance. He has even managed to include a door and three windows for ventilation.

Making the roof is probably the most difficult part as it features a pitched design. The LEGO roof isn’t fully waterproof on its own because of the gaps between LEGO bricks. He added a waterproof layer of a tarp over the roof to solve this problem, while windows were covered with thin plastic films to block the air. He even used tape to help seal and secure the holes of the large LEGO bricks. After three hours of assembling bricks, a lot of struggles, and changes in the setup, the structure was able to maintain its shape and support.

The next task for Kent was to set up the interior space so that he could camp inside. He first added a ground sheet, and then an inflatable mattress completed the setup. He has even cooked inside with a gas-fired stove that doubled up as a space heater.

The feeling of sitting on a camping chair while sitting next to a campfire near your LEGO house is unbelievable and not possible for everyone. Kent has done a tremendous job, bringing a dream of many of us to life.
