There is no dearth of fibreglass trailers on the market. From 13-foot-long trailers to 23-foot campers, the RV market is filled with a wide range of caravanettes. One such trailer that piqued our attention lately is Bothy, a successor to Barefoot Classic’s flagship fibreglass model launched in 2015. Designed by the UK-based manufacturer Barefoot Caravans, the Bothy measures 16.7 feet long, 6.3 feet wide, and 7.7 feet high. The trailer also includes 6.3 feet of internal height, allowing campers to stand inside the trailer without much hassle.

Built from a single-piece moulded fibreglass monocoque shell, the trailer carries the same robust “10-year warranty” on the body as higher-end siblings and promises long-term durability as well. The Bothy stands out immediately for its replication of an actual robin’s egg both in color and size, something industry observers note outdoes many so-called egg campers in sheer curvaceous authenticity.

Bothy boasts a dry weight of 1,556 lbs, about 550 lbs lighter than the flagship Barefoot Classic. This substantial reduction comes from a deliberate simplification of the layout. The company has eliminated the dedicated wet bathroom found in pricier models, freeing up floor space and making the interior more open and airy.

Inside, the trailer can accommodate up to three people. The front features a wraparound sofa dinette with a removable table that converts into two single beds. At the rear, a new cushioned bench serves as the third berth, best suited for a child or smaller adult. One can also spot an array of storage options, including drawers, cabinets, and under-seat compartments.

Next, we have the kitchen. Basic and practical, the kitchen includes a sink with separate fresh and waste water canisters, solid oak worktops, and a compact 24-litre electric cool box. The company also provides add-on options, such as a portable induction hob or a two-burner, depending on the level of customization one opts for. Since there is no separate bathroom, the maker has added a portable Thetford toilet as compensation.

The trailer is powered via a 110-Ah leisure battery with a control panel, multiple sockets, and a shore power hookup, sufficient for off-grid weekends. Priced from £25,500 (roughly $34,300), Bothy is a lot cheaper than the Classic and the Lite variant, bringing Barefoot’s premium fibreglass style closer to levels seen years ago. The only downside is regarding its availability. Akin to its predecessors, Bothy is only available in the UK and Europe, with no immediate US release planned.
