All aboard this 55-meter, remarkably built train that has won a Guinness Record for being the world’s longest chocolate train sculpture. Presented in Milan last month, this old-fashioned train sculpture, made entirely out of chocolate, was created by Andrew Farrugia, a Maltese chocolatier from the Institute of Tourism Studies, and his team. Some adored the sculptural train for its unimaginable length and profound details, some for the unlikely ingredients used, and others considered it a worthy record to break. Whatever the case, this gigantic model has won the hearts of people all over the world.

This sweet masterpiece is shaped like a classic train, with its craftsmanship beyond our imagination. It measures 55.27 meters (181 feet and 3 inches) long. According to Guinness World Records, Andrew Farrugia has broken his third world record with this sculpture. It is hard to believe, but this train is considered the longest sculpture to date, longer than the length of an Olympic swimming pool.

This tasty creation consists of a single locomotive and 22 carriages, where each part of the train weighs almost 160 kilograms. As if the design wasn’t enough, the use of Belgian chocolate to craft this beauty made it way too tempting.

The preparation for this model began in August. Andrew and his team prepared clay models of different train components, which later turned into chocolate pieces. By October, Andrew had already started working on the base of the train, crafting each wagon from huge slabs of chocolate in Bergamo. After all the hand-cut pieces (approximately 5,000) were ready, he and his team assembled them to form the train. According to Andrew, wagons alone had 180 pieces.

Due to the train’s record-breaking length, transportation was the toughest task. Andrew and his team had to cover each piece with a plastic film to move it safely to the required location. With this record-breaking creation, Andrew Farrugia shows off his years of culinary finesse and artistic prowess.

However, this achievement was not possible alone; it required teamwork and passion for crafting to bring this fine piece of art to life. “Working alongside colleagues, friends, students, people from other places – Bergamo, Brescia, Milan – has filled me entirely with nothing but pride and joy,” Andrew said.

This is not the first time Andrew Farrugia has created something like this. In 2012, he crafted a 34.05-meter chocolate train model, which held the title of the longest train sculpture at the time. Two years later, he artfully replicated the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building), which was deemed the tallest chocolate sculpture in the world in 2014. And now, we get to witness yet another of his chocolate creations that is even more charming, scrumptious, and unique. What do you think? Will this record ever be broken?
