Nothing can be more satisfying than fresh fruit juice topped with ice cubes on a hot day. There are various options to make ice cubes at home, but a California-based company has created one that lets you make ice even when you are travelling in an RV, tiny house, or camping trailer. Meet Miocube, a mini icemaker that offers fast ice-making capacity in a compact form. Its biggest selling point is that it can also be used with beverages other than normal water.
Unlike heavy and unsightly traditional ice makers, this device features a retro-chic frame that gives it a vintage and industrial-style look. The main body features a uniquely textured finish complemented by orange side grilles and a metallic-looking control panel. Furthermore, it comes with fully detachable components, including an ice basket, a water reservoir cover, and internal baffles that can be easily removed without any tools for easy cleanup.
The maker claims Miocube delivers a fresh batch of ice in just 12 minutes, which is significantly impressive if compared with other options of a similar size in the market. It can prepare 12 ice cubes per cycle. As highlighted, it is a Semiconductor (TEC) ice maker, which made it possible to keep the price down while achieving a portable size.
Most TEC setups fail to freeze water because they can’t manage the “hot side” heat. To solve this, this device uses a customized high-density micro-channel heat sink and a high-static-pressure fan to maintain the necessary temperature. Furthermore, the ice cube size has been optimized to 2x2x2 cm to reduce the cooling load.
Miocube’s high-density evaporator features 12 freezing pillars that allow you to produce enough ice to fill two large glasses in one go. With a versatile liquid compatibility, you can directly pour in fresh milk for iced lattes, orange juice for kid-friendly slushie bites, or cold-brew coffee. You can even create layered drinks by freezing different fruit juices in the bullet-shaped mold. The ice maker comes with an innovative internal harvest mechanism to ensure a frictionless release. When the cycle completes, the cubes slide off effortlessly into the basket.

Using the Miocube is simple and easy: just pour in fresh water and press the onboard button on the front to start ice making in a few minutes. Now, you just have to lift the ice release handle and remove the ice cubes without getting stuck inside.
The size of a vintage tabletop radio, this ice-making device is designed not only for kitchen countertops, but for seamless service at the porch, beach, or a forest trip. It integrates a handle for carrying it easily with one hand. You can plug it into an AC 110-240V outlet when using it at home, while you have to use the DC 12V/24V outlet for powering it up outdoors using your vehicle’s cigarette lighter port.
Each ice maker unit measures 17 x 9.5 x 10.9 cm (6.69 x 3.74 x 4.29 inches), but there are no details about its weight, which is an important factor to consider when taking it camping. You can currently pre-order the Miocube mini icemaker from Kickstarter for about $43 to get delivered in May 2026.
