Reminiscent of unfolding petals of the eponymous flower

Designer Bodo Sperlein transforms a historic church into an architectural manifesto called Menu that features lighting, furniture, and sculptural pieces for Milan Design Week, 2026. In the same exhibition, Lobmeyr is expanding its Orchid lighting family with the visionary, sculptural designer. Unveiling a complete family of pendant, table, floor, and wall lights, the iconic lighting manufacturers will merge light into form and function into art.

What began as a singular sculptural piece, the Orchid is now a complete family that evolves into a cohesive lighting language adaptable to every space. From intimate interiors to architectural installations, the lighting retains the character of collectible design.

Drawing on biomorphic shapes, the lighting series transforms a functional light into a distinctive piece of light. The Orchid lights are made from brass metal sheets, bent and shaped like a floral form, to enhance their warm glow.

Inspired by the delicate elegance of nature, the Orchid lighting series captures the beauty of floral forms and turns them into soft sculptural designs. Reminiscent of gently unfolding petals, the pendant’s sculptural form has a contoured underside that reminds one of organic, flowing folds. Its interplay of light and shadow and form creates a dynamic visual experience that seems bold yet effortless. All the pieces follow the same philosophy.

“The bending of the leaves of the Orchid is a total organic process which is only guided by the skills of craftsmanship. No template, no mold, no machines: just the expertise of the artisan force with the delicacy of a true master,” as the lighting manufacturer tells us.

The brand also says, “It is this shared mindset, respect for heritage paired with forward thinking that makes the collaboration between Sperlein and Lobmeyr so instinctive. Both view light not as a commodity but as culture: something to be crafted slowly, made by hand, and designed to last generations.”

More than a new collection, Orchid is a representation of two legacies: Lobmeyr, rooted in centuries of master craftsmanship, and Sperlein, exploring contemporary sculptural expression. When combined, the two legacies change how we perceive luxury lighting. They offer something timeless, tactile, and made to last.
