Yamaha is considered a high-value audio brand, and its latest DXR mk3 powered loudspeakers and DXS mk3 powered subwoofers carry forward its legacy. The new Yamaha DXR mk3 series offers significant upgrades in terms of power, DSP processing, and acoustic performance compared to the previous mk1 and 2 models. Suitable for live music, DJ sets, speeches, corporate events, and more, these upgraded speakers take the sound quality of the previous series to a whole new level.

The DXR mk3 range is available in three models, the DXR15, DXR12, and DXR10, with larger horns that expand the frequency range. All the models are housed in a lightweight, injection-molded enclosure and are equipped with 15″, 12″, and 10″ low-frequency drivers with 1.75″ high-frequency units, respectively. Furthermore, the larger central port reduces the effect of wind noise and standing waves for a more consistent sound through low-mid frequencies.

These two-way, bi-amped audio systems come with a 2000W Class D amplifier, making them capable of producing loud sound levels of 132-134 dB SPL. The DXR10 mk3 and DXR12 mk3 can handle 53Hz to 20kHz while DXR15 mk3 reaches 46Hz to 20kHz. If you want even louder sound, the DXS mk3 subwoofer models are your answer.

The DXR mk3 Series loudspeakers are equipped with a 96 kHz DSP processor with Yamaha’s proprietary Advanced FIR-X Tuning with linear-phase FIR crossover and EQ filters to deliver smooth phase response and low-distortion sound. There is also an internal accelerometer that enables the speaker to automatically detect its placement and adjust sound accordingly.

The new DXS mk3 powered subwoofers are also available in three models. The DXS18, DXS15, and DXS12 are housed in acoustically optimized plywood cabinets with a scratch-resistant Polyurea coating. They employ the same 96 kHz DSP, use a 2500W Class D amplifier, and are equipped with 18″, 15″, or 12″ bass cones.

The DXS18 mk3 model differs by including a four-inch or three-inch voice coil. These subwoofers offer a matching output of up to 132 and 134 dB SPL, flexible crossover settings, and cardioid mode for bass management onstage. All mk3 models in both the DXR and DXS series include an LCD screen for precise control over EQ, delay, and routing.

On the other hand, the CXR mk3 and CXS mk3 series are unpowered versions of the DXR/DXS range, meant for installation and fixed systems where external amplification is used. When used with Yamaha PX and PC-D Series amplifiers or other compatible signal processors, these speakers can take full advantage of dedicated speaker processor tuning settings.

If you want to buy, the DXR mk3 series starts from $940 for the DXR10 mk3 Powered Loudspeaker, while the DXS mk3 series of powered subwoofers starts from $1,250 for the DXS12 mk3 model. Likewise, the CXR10 mk3 loudspeaker costs for $680, and the CXS12 mk3 subwoofer is priced at $940 on the official website.
