Samsung is hosting an exhibition titled “Design is an Act of Love” at Milan Design Week 2026, where the company is presenting a human-centric way of living through design. From over 120 products across 36 categories in the exhibition’s 12 zones, Project Luna is a primary feature garnering plenty of attention on the web. Meant to be placed on countertops, it functions like an interactive smart speaker and an ambient lamp on the dining table.

The conceptual device features a round swiveling screen that works as its head. If you remember Samsung’s OLED-faced bot teased at CES 2026, it is similar in appearance but differs by omitting the movement system. Project Luna is designed to become a countertop device that can rotate its screened head to different directions to face the user. It interacts with animated eyes and movements as well as playful sound effects.

According to Android Headlines, Project Luna acts as a central hub that connects to a user’s smartphone to play music using a record-player-inspired interface. In an introductory video, this tabletop bot can be seen recommending meal options and also working as a lamp on the dining table. There is not much information available about its functionality right now, but it is surely aimed at replacing the traditional static smart speakers.

The device is most prominently featured in the two zones of the Samsung Design Open Lab’s exhibition. The Welcome Show treats the Project Luna as a shared AI companion that connects smart devices in your home for a synchronized flow. Its role is to highlight the “Human Side of Technology”, as Samsung is explaining. The robot is also featured in “The Goodbye Show,” where it seems to be commanding AI-driven interactions and a sensory performance of music, light, and human touch.

The key highlight of the Samsung Project Luna desktop robot is the shared AI philosophy that artificial intelligence will be located in the communal spaces in the near future. At Milan Design Week, this device showcases Samsung’s vision where interactive AI-powered companions that feel more engaged with your commands visually and audibly will replace the static smart speakers.
