Hyperlite Mountain Gear is well-known for its lightweight camping gear, including the Mid 1 three-season tent and the CrossPeak 2 tent launched last year. Building upon the popularity of the latter two-person model, the brand has launched CrossPeak 1 one-person tent for solo backpackers. It features the same freestanding design, stability, and quick setup as the earlier model. And at 28.7 oz (about 1.8 lbs), it is one of the lightest freestanding one-person tents available on the market.
The camping tent combines Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF) with DAC 8.7 mm aluminum poles and 20D Sil-Nylon external pole sleeves for a strong build. It uses X-pole design with high-visibility orange tie-out loops for structural reinforcement and guy-out points for competitive sturdiness. The clearly marked pole intersections ensure quick setup even in the dark, while integrated ladder locks let you quickly tighten and loosen the tent easily.
In tough weather conditions, the tent stability can be reinforced with trekking poles in both vestibules using the pole retention straps and additional guylines on the head and foot panel, and pole tie-out points. The tent includes two door vents and adjustable ventilation at the head and foot ends for air flow. The magnetic door tie-backs make tying the doors back easy.
As seen in the CrossPeak 1 diagram, it features an asymmetrical footprint with a maximum external length of 96 inches (8 feet) and an interior sleeping length of 88 inches (7.3 feet), while the width tapers between 32 and 29 inches. The tent packs down compactly, with the shelter fitting into an 8×6×5 inches bag and the poles into a separate 15.25×2.25×2.25 inches pouch.

Despite its compact footprint, the tent offers a spacious interior with ample headroom for comfortable living. It also features two vestibules for gear storage, including a 22-inch-deep zippered vestibule for added protection.
If you wish to buy, the Crosspeak 1 camping tent is available for a huge price of $825 on the official website. Whether this premium price is truly justified by the new materials and freestanding design is a matter of discussion.
