The tiny house industry is flooded every day with new models and new builders, but some designs stand apart from the rest even years after their launch. One such design, the Urban Kootenay tiny house, designed and built by Oregon-based Tru Form Tiny, has stood the test of time. Measuring 28 feet long, the Urban Kootenay tiny house is designed as a modern apartment on wheels with highly functional spaces.
The micro-dwelling bears the same markings of its brethren: the quality build, well-thought-out interior, loads of storage, and tons of personality. Its exterior is marked by bump-out nooks and dormers on the muted navy façade. An abundance of windows and skylights fills the interior with fresh air and natural light.
It has a fold-down deck and awning at the entrance. As you enter, the muted navy continues, bleeding into wood and white painted accents. The door opens into a mud room-style space where the kitchen and the bathroom conjoin.
The bathroom has a compact footprint, but a few customizations can add a bathtub, signalling it is big enough for a small family. It has a vanity sink with a washer/dryer unit, toilet, shower cabin or bathtub, and a cabinet. Outside the bathroom, there is a pantry to stock everyday cooking staples.
Opposite the pantry, there is a refrigerator nook. The kitchen is stocked with appliances, including a four-burner cooktop, an oven, a range hood, and a dishwasher. The L-shaped countertops provide plenty of prepping space and include a fold-down table that increases the space while doubling as a breakfast bar to seat two.
Past the kitchen, the open-plan living area comes with a bump-out, a tiled electric fireplace, and a dresser. There are plenty of windows here to keep the space bright and spacious. The couch is set in the bump-out, keeping the floor clear for a couple of reading chairs and a coffee table. Overhead is the secondary loft, which can fit a twin mattress.

On the other end, above the kitchen and the bathroom, is the master bedroom loft. It has a storage-integrated staircase with a standing landing. The loft comes with a built-in desk and fits a queen-size mattress. Underneath the standing landing, there is a closet to store clothes and other equipment.
The Urban Kootenay tiny house is where modern living meets functionality. Its architectural enhancements and versatile layout options cater to various urban lifestyles. Pricing for this tiny house begins at $105,900, with customizations adding to the final expense.
