Mammoth Overland has never been shy of experimenting with its rig. As a matter of fact, all the eminence the brand has garnered over the years is courtesy of its experimental style and bold approach towards designing a camper trailer. Its latest model, the XLE (Xtinction-Level Escape), takes that philosophy one step ahead.
XLE features bulletproof windows, a 37-millimeter flare launcher, 360-degree night-vision surveillance, and a pressurized medical-grade air filtration system, all packed into a full-height, nine-foot-high trailer priced at $124,000. These are just headline features. There is more to the camper than meets the eye.
The company’s original HV teardrop trailer established its reputation for aircraft-grade aluminium construction and no-compromise off-road capability. But it was the 2023 and 2024 reveal of the ELE and Tall Boy that put Mammoth on the map for a wider audience.
The ELE was conceived as a genuine survival trailer. It featured a bear-spray defense system, 360-degree camera coverage, medical-grade air purification, and deep off-grid power reserves, all wrapped in the classic Mammoth monocoque shell. Tall Boy, on the other hand, was the company’s first full-height trailer, standing nearly nine feet, with 22 inches of ground clearance. It was designed around feedback from ELE owners who wanted more room to stand up straight and a proper king-size bed.
So, XLE is basically an amalgamation of ELE and Tall Boy. To put that into context, the company has merged the security philosophy of the ELE with the spaciousness of the Tall Boy and added standard features like bedding and appliances. Speaking of standard features, the XLE features a swing-out kitchen with sink, burner, and other nitty-gritty items. We can also spot some flip-down racks for food storage on the outside. And just in case a bear decides to join your party, anti-bear flares can be put to use.
Built on the proven full-height TL platform, it retains the nine-foot exterior height, 22-inch ground clearance, and all-aluminum aircraft-grade construction. The cabin is pressurized and fitted with dual medical-grade HEPA air filtration and bulletproof windows throughout. A reinforced rear vault door features a multi-point locking system, and spring-assisted windows include remote blast shields.
The trailer is powered by a 1,200Ah lithium battery bank that offers 50 percent more capacity than the ELE, supported by a 400W solar array, dual propane tanks, and a portable generator. Other details include a built-in Starlink that ensures connectivity in far-off places. Self-sufficiency is further enhanced by a 12-volt air-conditioning system, a 45-liter 12-volt refrigerator, and an onboard water filtration system.
The newest rig features a 360-degree night-vision CCTV array that covers the full perimeter. Remote-activated sonic defense handles non-lethal deterrence. Then we have the Quad remote-controlled bear-deterrent systems work the perimeter on demand. Not to mention, a remote-deploy 37-millimeter flare launcher, reloadable from inside the locked cabin, adds another layer of response capability.
There is no way Mammoth Overland wouldn’t have included a rooftop observation deck. This comes with dual standing platforms, a rapid-access roof escape hatch, and six remote strobe units to finish the picture. For campers who want more, the XLE comes with dual long-rifle storage, a dedicated gun safe, a concealed under-mattress safe, an integrated medical kit, a HAM radio, a weather station, and a Geiger counter.
As far as the off-road prowess is concerned, the trailer boasts 33-inch HD terrain tires on forged aluminum wheels that carry dual full-size spares as standard. Other nitty-gritty features include four passthrough storage bays, a front utility storage box, and dual swing-down tables, one interior and one exterior MOLLE-equipped, which provide a deployable workspace wherever the XLE lands.
Priced at $124,000, the XLE is explicitly for buyers who want the absolute height of what an off-road trailer can do. The XLE off-road trailer is available for deposit on the Mammoth Overland official website, with deliveries slated for October 2026.
