Nissan’s compact Clipper kei van is now available in an official camper version, which means you don’t need to use third-party conversion shops. This is courtesy of the all-new “Multi Rack” camper kit officially developed by Nissan’s custom division, though the van is built by Suzuki under a partnership agreement. This micro camper is designed to adapt its cargo space for different needs, making it a practical option for mobile businesses.
The Clipper Van “Multi-Rack” is equipped with a steel rack and a perforated board, where you can attach the provided two types of dedicated brackets. You can change the mounting position and orientation of the dedicated brackets for multiple purposes.
In addition, commercially available general-purpose hooks can be attached to turn the cargo area into a wide range of uses, including hobbies, leisure, delivery, and mobile sales. There is also a special stain-resistant floor in the cargo area. All these features are designed and factory-installed by Nissan Motorsports & Customization (NMC).
What makes the micro-camper stand out is the onboard pegboard system. This pegboard organizer system uses a special hole pattern instead of the traditional, simple round-hole design used in old workshop pegboards. It lets you attach hooks, brackets, and storage accessories to organize and hang tools or gear easily.
You can also opt for a removable bed mattress with four height adjustments, making it suitable for use as an overnight vehicle. As highlighted by New Atlas, the 5-cm-thick (2-inch) multi-piece mattress mounts over longitudinal support beams that secure to the pegboard. It is finished with a rugged, water-repellent Cordura exterior shell fabric and offers a sleeping area of 180 x 117 cm (71 x 46 inches). For colors, you can choose from beige and black for the perforated board, dedicated floor, and bed mat.

The Multi-Rack package is available on the high-roof Nissan Clipper Van with a small 658cc engine, CVT transmission, and either 2WD or selectable 4WD. The compact camper-style van starts at around ¥2.23 million (about US$14,000), making it a relatively affordable option.
Nissan has also launched the Clipper Rio “Chair Cab,” suitable for people with mobility issues. The vehicle is equipped with an easy-to-operate manual ramp that allows wheelchair users to enter the vehicle from the rear, and an electric winch to assist with wheelchair entry and exit.
