The 2026 Barkitecture was a surreal affair with brilliant architects and practices surpassing themselves with ingenuity and originality, embodying this year’s theme – dogs in space – in the most unique ways. One such example from the edition is the spirited Adventurer dog kennel, created by London-based artist Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan for Elvis the dog.
The Adventurer dog kennel is a colorful and vibrant space pod inspired by childhood cardboard spaceships. The concept of the kennel is deeply personal and shows that not only the present but also the past serves as a source of inspiration. Bursting with colors and patterns, the kennel is a true reflection of the artist, mirroring her otherworldly approach to transform everyday spaces through visual language.
This dog kennel provides a new home for the canine among the stars. Morag and Luke, Elvis’s loving human family, decided to embark on a new journey aboard the Adventurer capsule due to rising climate change consequences. However, they wouldn’t have done it without a spacecraft to take them beyond the Earth.
So, the mission was to build a state-of-the-art spacecraft with the necessary comforts and treats for Elvis. The space-themed pod is outfitted with advanced life-support systems and navigation to find a habitable planet and make a home there for the whole family.

From the outside, the pod looks playful, like it’s made out of real cardboard pieces. Inside, it creates a comfortable den for Elvis to retreat after his long adventure among the galaxies. The interior is cushiony, perfect for snuggling in safety.
Morag painted the exterior of the kennel with neon paint, coated the pod with plenty of layers, and waited a lot in between coats. This extreme hard work has paid off with the kennel being stunning and innovative, yet playful and full of personality. The Adventurer dog kennel is designed as a calming retreat, offering a sense of belonging and a fun, whimsical space for the dog.
