The ONDA table lights are a prominent feature at 3daysofdesign this year. Designed by Danish lighting designer Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt, the ONDA Table Lights explore a complex interplay of color, shape, and light. The design bridges the gap between functional illumination and expressive, abstract art objects. Schmidt uses the material properties of Plexiglas to explore depth, transparency, and color theory.
These sculptural luminaires are being debuted as part of a highly curated group exhibition. They are showcased in the “Objects of Desire” exhibition. Curated by Birgitte Due Madsen, this exhibition aligns with the festival’s overarching theme, “Make This Moment Matter.”
By scaling down the concept from massive custom pendants, she translated architectural lighting into a compact tabletop format. The resulting design invites viewers to slow down, perfectly aligning with the exhibition’s focus on intentional craftsmanship.
Each light is meticulously hand-assembled in Copenhagen by designer Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt. The construction requires precise configuration and layering of custom-cut components to balance form and stability.
Originally developed as custom fixtures for the historic Taarbæk Kro inn, the production process maintains a limited-edition, highly artisanal approach. This physical, craft-driven making process ensures that every lamp serves as a unique piece of functional art.

The ONDA Table Lights feature an architectural, sculptural design built from interlocking layers of translucent Plexiglas. They use contrasting color palettes, ranging from deep sea hues to bright, sunny tones that mimic coastal skies.
The light filters through these vibrant, stacked geometric fragments, creating a soft glow with dramatic, overlapping shadows. The collection offers two distinct orientations, available in both a sleek horizontal and an upright vertical silhouette. The ONDA light exhibition is set inside the historic Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen.
