Danish company Fredericia’s 2026 3daysofdesign showcase included several classics, new releases, and relaunches; most of them focused on the principles of human-centered thinking, craftsmanship, and social vision. A prime example is the Post Lounge Chair by Cecilie Manz, which strips away excess for a purely functional, minimalist design. Launched as a brand-new addition to the brand’s Post Collection, the chair is designed for relaxed comfort, keeping the original.

The design was developed through full-scale prototyping, where form is shaped directly in material rather than through abstraction. Manz describes, “The process behind the Post Lounge Chair involved extensive 1:1 scale model work. When working this way, the intuition of your hands helps determine where you go. Somewhere in the pile of cardboard, wood, paper, and tape, the essential design is to be found.”

The chair combines a slim wooden frame with removable cushions to blend Scandinavian minimalism with modern comfort. Each element serves a defined purpose, resulting in a chair that feels complete, not just decorated with accessible elements. The curved backrest, deep seat, and elegantly rounded armrests add structural comfort.

The Post Lounge Chair is designed with an upright posture and minimal armrests. It features a plywood seat and back, with optional leather or textile upholstery available for added comfort and style.

With this chair design, Manz has extended the Post collection into lounge and living settings while maintaining its structural clarity. From scale and proportion to comfort, all things have been carefully adjusted to support a more relaxed posture, while retaining the same sense of presence characteristic of the collection.

The Post Lounge Chair is meant for comfort while also maintaining a cohesive design language that balances clarity of form with softened functionality. It is crafted from FSC-certified solid oak and is available in light oiled, oiled, or soap-treated finishes. Pricing starts at €1,770 (roughly $2,050).
