A young couple has bought an abandoned 1800s church in Ontario, Canada for $90,000 – as they decided to convert it into their family home. They were looking for the perfect property for a quite some time, but when they came across this old church, which was on sale, they saw their future home in the unique abandoned property.

Interior

Some part of the interior will be kept in its original form to remind the owners of its true existence. They’ve already removed the pews and the alters to turn the larger space into their main living area, which will also include kitchen, dining room, and living room.

They’ve also planned to remove the flat ceiling and install a loft bedroom under the peaked roof. The second smaller room, which was once used for Sunday school, will be divided into two sections. One-half will be converted into a small guest bedroom, whereas the other half will be a mudroom. Although most windows in their church house are unique, but they’ve also kept the antique church fixtures to give unique character to their living space.

Features

The church boasts some beautiful features like stained glass windows, bricked exterior, etc. But it still needs a lot of work to be converted into a complete family home. The couple is currently working on the renovation. They are planning to model their home after the St. Nicolas Church House in England.

Church conversion

The couple seems to be very happy with their new house. According to them, it is a happy place full of good memories – as it was used for weddings before it was entirely abandoned. Plus, there are no scary graveyards to worry about.

Even we can’t wait to see what the couple will build out of this beautiful church. What do you think about this old church being converted into a family home? Do share your views in the comments below.
