US-based adventure gear company Dutchware has designed Chameleon, a lightweight hammock with modular components that can be attached or moved as per the camping conditions. The interesting thing about this project is that its detachable components including bugnet, vented top cover and quick storage pockets can be purchased at any time. The company has apparently successfully crowd-funded the modular hammock project through a Kickstarter campaign. This cozy hammock allows expanding it with zippered parts, while facilitates you in removing them when you don’t need to carry it.
The US-built Hexon fabric with six-way unique rip-stop grid keeps the hammock body lightweight, strong and comfortable, while the removable top cover made of water-resistant Argon fabric makes a micro climate inside the hammock for withstanding the cold weather. Vents and bugnets made from Nano No-See-Um netting technique permit visibility and ventilation, but keeps all the tiny bugs out of the hammock. These parts can be removed and changed over easily, thanks to the patent pending vision toothed zipper. The unique zipper system not only makes it easy to enter or come out of the hammock, but also eases in changing your sleeping direction easily.
Among other parts of the Chameleon, hammock is titanium beetle buckle hardware and high-strength Dyneema webbing straps for quick and safe setup. The highly-strong beetle buckle system accompanied by spreader bar allows connecting two Chameleon hammocks side by side. There are dual adjustable tie-outs for a comfortable sleeping position and quick-attach storage pockets for storing your important things.
Chameleon Hammock by DutchWare is made in three different sizes, although you have a lot of fabric and color options. Depending on the accessories attached, the weight of this 11 foot-long and 58 inch-wide hammock can go as high as 32.32 oz. You can back its Kickstarter campaign for $195 to get a Bug free Chameleon and $215 for Cold Weather Chameleon in April 2017.
