A pet owner’s worst nightmare is discovering that their beloved pet is unhealthy. What’s worse is finding out it’s too late, often leading to rushed vet visits and expensive treatments. To avoid the anxiety of a last-minute health crisis that could prove fatal, Swiss-based start-up, AI-Tails, has developed a solution in the form of a smart, AI-powered cat feeding and drinking station that can monitor your cat’s health in real-time.
Debuting at CES 2026, this smartly designed device aims to keep your pet’s health in check. It incorporates AI technology, a built-in camera, and pattern-recognition sensors to analyze your cat’s facial expressions, behavior, and eating habits in real-time. With an intelligent system, the device identifies subtle signs, which are not discernible to human eyes, and turns them into insights for pet parents to make early and informed health decisions for their cats.
This cat feeder boasts a practical design. It has a feeding bowl on one side and a drinking bowl on the other. When your feline approaches the feeder and starts munching on its food, the device detects your cat’s eating portion and habits, recognizes facial expressions, water consumption, and body temperature to track early signs of ailment, stress, or pain.
The clear and easy-to-understand insights are then sent directly to a cloud platform or to the pet owner’s phone, so that they are aware of their feline’s early health-related conditions and patterns and can provide attention they deserve at that moment. After all, early detection can reduce complications, lower emergency vet visits, and shift pet care from passive reactive to active preventive.
AI has been incorporated into smart watches and other intelligent tracking devices to actively monitor human health. It has now taken a step forward in diagnosing the health of our beloved furry friends, cutting pet parents some slack, and making pet care as purrfect as possible. Available on preorder for CHF295 ( roughly $370), the pet feeder is expected to begin shipping worldwide in the first half of 2026.
According to CNet, this smart cat feeding and drinking station by AI-Tails is only available for cats, but the company is planning to roll out a similar pet healthcare device for dogs in the near future.
