Nanna Ditzel’s Bench for Two was first revealed in 1989. Its unconventional and sculptural forms piqued curiosity, whereas its playful and functional charm made people think and fostered connection. Now, 30 years later, Danish design house Fredericia has reintroduced this iconic piece of furniture with Danish furniture brand A. Peterson.

The bench has been relaunched in its original version in black, along with three new colors – red, yellow, and pink – reaffirming Ditzel’s stature as a pioneering figure in Danish furniture design and her love for bold and vibrant colors and forms. Marking its debut at 3daysofdesign 2025, this unconventional seating is a contemporary tribute to Ditzel’s creativity and artistic expression.

The defining feature of the classic bench is the backrest with a graphic design at the back and concentric circles with a red center dot. The two seats gently incline towards each other, creating a relaxing shared space.

Emerged from the sketches and prototype she made back in her day, the bench captures Ditzel’s playfulness and precision. The Bench for Two takes a design cue from the gentle balance of butterfly wings, which we get to witness in its organic form and ergonomic structure.

Crafted from solid veneer and maple, this unique piece of furniture stands as a technical and artistic achievement. Its unconventional form challenges the norm and reflects Ditzel’s ability to bring each furniture piece to life with fearless expression, functional potential, and humanism. If not for seating, the Bench for Two can stand alone as a statement piece in your living room, or it can be a functional furniture, inviting you to relax and connect.

The relaunched version of the bench by Fredericia is accompanied by an adjustable table, crafted to seamlessly complement the angles of the bench. When the two come together, they form a friendly seating, balancing functionality with innovation.
