Whenever we think about Halloween decorations, first things that come to mind are eerie skeletons, pumpkin patches, and cobwebs. Very few people think about using plants for Halloween decoration. Using ominous-looking plants to boost this spooky season’s decoration is actually a wonderful idea without spending much. We have listed eight spooky plants that will add an organic touch to your Halloween décor this year and are way better than frail single-use plastic decorations.

Sarracenia Purpurea ‘Dracula’ (Pitcher Plant)

This strange plant has a hooded appearance that resembles Dracula. The best part is the purple-ish veins. These veins on the green plant give it an uncanny appearance. You can surround a medium skeleton, or Dracula would be even better, with these plants with a bit of light in the center to create a spooky setup.

Brassidium Spider Star (Toskana)

This plant is definitely strange. Not only does it look like a bunch of spiders staring straight into your soul but gives off quite creepy vibes. If you have witchcraft décor planned, you can place these plants around it. The entire scene will look like a scene straight out of horror movie.

Epipremnum Aureus (Devil’s Ivy)

Devil’s ivy has a deep green color with lovely shades of yellow. Being a climber plant, it makes for an ideal Halloween décor. You can place miniature skeletons or spooky figurines on the stem and make the look like they are peeping through the leaves.

Dionaea Muscipula (Venus Flytrap)

This plant is well known for its scary jaw-like trap. The Venus flytrap has already featured in a musical – “Little shop of Horrors.” The character Audrey 2 is the main antagonist in that musical, with its face resembling the Venus flytrap. You can use this plant for Halloween decoration to add that touch of horror.

Chlorophytum Comosum ‘Variegatum’

Hanging Jellyfish (Air Plant)

Not all of the decorative items are supposed to look scary. Some of them can look unique, like never seen before. Hanging Jellyfish looks like a real-life jelly fish with mushroom-like round head and thin and curvy vines coming out of it. And yes, you can hang them. This eye catching plant will definitely add a strange vibe to your Halloween décor.
