Tiny Mountain Houses has been building mobile homes in Silverton, Oregon since last decade, and if you’ve been following them since the beginning, you know how far they’ve come. Lou Pereyra, Co-founder, started the whole operation after insistence from his son. “My son calls me one day and feeds this idea of starting to build tiny houses,” Lou tells us. “At first, I was very apprehensive about the idea and told him nobody wants those, but he somehow convinced me to get into the business, and what followed next was a suite of consumer appreciation that got me to build one home after the other,” Lou explains.
Ever since its inception, Tiny Mountain Houses has designed a dozen different mobile homes ranging from 18 to 42 feet. But it is now that the Lou and his team are experimenting with A-frame cabins. The company has unveiled the Black Ridge tiny house, which is essentially not a tiny home in the literal sense, but an A-Frame cabin.
Is it mobile? Well, there is a bit of mystery around this, but Tiny Mountain Houses tease it to be “a premium, design-forward version of our 22’ A-Frame Series, built for people who want a tiny home that looks and feels truly custom.” It is to be noted that Black Ridge, as of now, is designed to be a show model, and the company may not pivot to building A-frames permanently.
“Black Ridge takes the proven A-frame platform and upgrades it from the ground up with higher-end materials, standout architectural details, and refined finishes that you can see the moment you walk up to it,” Lou and his team state. This 22-foot A-frame model, built on a heavy-duty trailer base, measures 10 feet wide and reaches an impressive exterior height of 16 feet, with an interior peak soaring to 11 feet 2 inches. The height is certainly a hindrance, and by no means could Black Ridge be road legal, but this is still a desirable option for those seeking an ADU or dwelling in their backyard.
The Black Ridge boasts 275 square feet of space total (including lofts), and it comfortably sleeps up to four people while delivering a surprisingly spacious and refined experience. Akin to other models in its catalogue, the tiny house boasts a black standing seam metal roof, which gives the home a modern, almost dramatic silhouette against mountain backdrops. It’s paired with durable LP SmartSide panel siding in a board-and-batten style, finished for 50-year residential longevity. Other features include a cedar decking on the small entry porch and rear area.
On the inside, the design leans heavily on exposed pine framing and custom millwork. Not to mention, stained pine tongue-and-groove ceilings and detailed trim throughout. For ventilation, the tiny home features an enhanced window package featuring low-E, dual-glazed black vinyl units, including larger bathroom glazing, trapezoid endwall windows, and sidelights that brighten the peaked spaces.

The kitchen feels surprisingly residential. It includes custom hardwood cabinets with soft-close hardware, butcher block counters and open shelving, a full-height tiled backsplash, and quality appliances like a black stainless undercounter fridge, propane two-burner cooktop, and microwave range hood. Nearby is a living room that comes equipped with a wooden-blade ceiling fan and multi-way lighting, making it adaptable as a lounge, office, or extra sleeping area.
Up top, the loft offers cozy pine flooring and a removable slat railing, while the entry area boasts a clever butcher block bench with hidden shoe storage. Elsewhere is the bathroom that impresses with a neo-angle glass shower, matte black fixtures, a composting toilet, and barn-style doors. “If you’re looking for a modern A-frame that blends rugged durability with a clean, high-end feel, the Blackridge is built to deliver that ‘wow’ factor without giving up the functionality that makes the 22’ series so popular,” the company states.
Built with R-15 insulation throughout and prepped for propane heating, the Black Ridge balances off-grid potential with everyday comfort. The model is priced at $94,900. For more details, hop on the official website of Tiny Mountain Houses.
