Developers of tech are using AI for almost everything. But who would have imagined something like this? We are discussing an AI-powered drink machine that debuted at CES 2026. Created by a company named Breakreal, R1 functions like an AI bartender for you.
Breakreal R1 is a Bartesian cocktail machine that uses AI to slosh cocktails while using personalization for the guests. One can make use of a companion app to get this device to serve a desired cocktail. By personalization, we mean a cocktail that suits the person’s mood and the kind of alcohol one would like to have at a given point in time. Users can also ask for their favorite drink when they greet the R1 cocktail machine.
This wonder appliance can process up to eight ingredients at a single time, which include alcohol, soda, juice, and syrups. However, this exposes the limitations of the machine because a real bartender can go around to use a larger number of ingredients and isn’t restricted to a fixed number. But if you can’t visit the bar frequently and want to booze at home, R1 is ready at your service with what it can offer at its best.
The AI-based cocktail machine works via an app, where one can type the kind of mood they are in (like happy or sad), and the Bartesian cocktail machine selects a cocktail that would just go with the mood. The app also uses voice-based commands to save users from typing every time they need a drink. When the app creates a certain drink, the user needs to share the recipe with the machine, and the rest is taken care of.

The drink-making machine was reportedly found to be a little slow at its demo at the CES. A particular drink took like 20 to 40 seconds to be created. Some felt that the cocktails were not as they had expected. It seems, for now, R1 needs to have more precision and craft sense in making the cocktails. This also means that it can’t replace what a professional bartender has to offer, as cocktail making is like an art that a machine will take time to perfect.
If you are interested in getting your hands on this machine, it does not come cheaply. Breakreal R1 AI bartender has a retail price of $1,299, but the early bird pricing is a little less at $1,099. Still, it’s a whole lot of money to invest in such a limited indulgence.
