Portugal builder Madeiguincho is a renowned name, not only in Europe but worldwide, for its exquisite wooden creations. Taking a detour from its locally sourced timber structures, the manufacturer recently converted an old cargo container into a stunning tiny house featuring the original swinging doors in the bedroom and a rooftop sun lounge. Dubbed the Cargo tiny house, the dwelling is made with high-quality materials outfitted to the initial structure to make it a custom-ordered vacation rental.

The Cargo has a free-flowing layout, achieved with an arched glass entrance leading into the wood-covered open-floor interior. Inside the tiny house on foundation, Madeiguincho packs a bed on a raised platform with swinging doors providing an al-fresco vibe, adjoined living space, a compact kitchen, and a bathroom. Aside from preserving and including the original doors from the cargo container, the addition of the rooftop sun lounge becomes a highlighting feature.

The rooftop lounge is reachable from the outside using an industrial ladder next to the entrance. The eclectic façade of the Cargo has an angular roof, with a cavity for lounging in the middle. It can accommodate a handful of people willing to soak in the sun.

The interior is wooden and minimalistic, staying true to Madeiguincho’s trademark style. There is integrated storage underneath the L-shaped couch and multiple cabinets in the kitchen help maintain the clean aesthetic. A big porthole window in the bedroom space adds a nice touch to the overall aesthetics.

On the other end, the bathroom is designed in the same manner seen in its earlier models. It has wooden slats in the shower space to let water run off quickly and easily, a toilet, and a sink. On its social media handle, Madeiguincho mentions that the Cargo tiny house will soon be available for short-term rentals. If you fancy the downsized lifestyle in a similar design, you can get in touch with the builder.
