The Cottage Jaro by Edit Architects is a three-story home, which has captured our attention with its traditional and progressive beauty. It nestles gracefully at the edge of lush green forests with a picturesque design supporting the vertical form structure integrated safely into the terrain. It exhibits a cottage aesthetic found in the area around Stechovice, Czech Republic.

It’s a compact dwelling on a foundation that stands in harmony with natural surroundings. Built ideally for two people, the house is made to bring traditional cottage comfort in a contemporary design. The exterior of the Cottage Jaro is clad in weathering wood, enhancing its beauty. The use of premium and natural materials ensures that the house aligns with the ever-changing beauty of natural surroundings.

It boasts an outdoor area that gives you plenty of space to set up a lounge for an enriching outdoor experience. It is a functional zone with a meditative ambiance, thoughtfully enclosed to ensure privacy and to minimize any intrusion into the peacefulness of the environment.

The interior is minimalistic, compact with mindful luxury, and cool aesthetics, and intentionally constructed with open spaces for stimulating indoor-outdoor connection. What catches the eye is the structural stairs that reach the entire height of the towering cottage and immaculately connect all three floors. Not to mention, the stairs are the highlight of the interior, adding character and charm to the layout. The interior features a kitchen, a dining area, a living area, and a bedroom. All three floors can be used with functionality to give comfort.

There is an unfurnished living room on the lowest floor that connects to the outdoors. It is a serene space that offers much scope and when you sit facing breathtaking views of the outdoors, the imagination runs wild. It is an open space with a built-in fireplace and can be furnished with a large sofa, coffee table, and other items to make it feel homely.

Take the stairs and you will reach the kitchen on the middle floor which is connected through a vertical gallery. It has a countertop, a sink, an integrated cooktop, and ample cabinets. The dining area in the kitchen is for a humble dining experience. The large windows in there keep the atmosphere welcoming and light-filled.

The bathroom is on the top floor and is designed to make the most of the slanted design. It has a shower, a double sink, and a toilet. The main bedroom is also on the uppermost level and is a cozy space with large picturesque windows that give an exhilarating view of the luscious valley towards the Vltava River.

The vertical staircase joining the three levels is thoughtfully created to serve as an art gallery with a white base for the owners to display their contemporary artwork collection. The Cottage Jaro reflects the owner’s deep-rooted love and sentiments for nature and art. It is a humble sojourn, meticulously built with details, quality, and comfort in mind.
