Italian lighting design studio Flos has introduced a new collection named Emi, designed by Erwan Bouroullec. Available in floor, ceiling, and table light versions, the Emi lighting collection follows an altogether different approach by exploring the paradoxical experience of providing light from shadow. It brings a sophistication to interior spaces and is ideal to be used in domestic or hospitality settings.

Using proprietary Flos technology, the Emi lighting collection has been created with a series of compact luminaires that have an anti-glare optical unit for a superior visual. A trio of light modules is encased within a triangular pole to create impactful yet gentle lighting from a minimalistic silhouette.

Backed by sustainable and future-proof design, Emi lights are easy to maintain. Their individual lens units can be replaced without much effort. There is no glue or soldering in the lighting units, making their disassembly and disposal simple at the end of life.

Moreover, these lighting pieces bring a professional quality of illumination with a patented optional solution that controls the exit angles of the light without interfering with the efficiency and versatility of the product. Each unit includes micro-textured silicone lenses, an integrated full cut-off attenuator, a spot lens, a medium lens, a flood lens, and a wide flood lens. There are also controls for touch dimming and capacitive sensors integrated into the top part of the central rod.

An interesting feature of the Emi lighting collection is that it illuminates the space with beautiful visual effects without revealing the source. The light comes out from the central body and never directly engages the eye, which suffices for a non-intrusive and comfortable illumination.

The Emi ceiling light can be installed singularly or in multiples to create a prepossessing installation that pairs elegance and aesthetics. The floor and table versions look similar with only height differences. Both feel as if floating in the air due to the very sleek stem that connects these lights to the base. These versions emit light from both ends.

Suited for contemporary interiors, the Emi lighting collection is available in colors like off-white, deep green, deep red, and deep blue.
