Good lighting not only elevates the space but the spirit as well. It is poetic and fosters connections and hope. Enfolding lighting collection by Thailand-based lighting brand Ango revolves around a similar philosophy, exploring light that shelters, uplifts, and connects. Each piece in the collection has distinctive forms and shapes that are embracing, interwoven, layered, and built into modular installations. This approach motivated the studio to create a theatrical group of lights that respond to space, intensity, and the expressive atmosphere they wish to evoke.

The Enfolding collection has debuted at Maison&Objet 2026. The collection comprises five otherworldly, handcrafted sculptural lights: Firmament 2, Folded by Ango, Transcendence 2, Bounded by Ango, and Orbette Medium. Each light has its own character and quirk, perfect for brightening homes, cafes, and hospitality spaces. Let’s explore the entire Enfolding collection below.

Firmament 2

Firmament 2 exhibits a stunning form that connects with the neighbouring pieces to create a dynamic and visually arresting spatial composition. This pendant light is a hand-worked metal sculpture and is part of Ango’s jewellery series. Each pendant is meticulously handcrafted from brass, nickel silver, and copper with hand-welded connecting points. Featuring LED lights with a U-shaped diffuser, the light appears like a ghost suspended in mid-air.

Transcendence 2

The Transcendence 2 looks like a luminous floating cloud. It is handcrafted in Thailand in Ango’s signature composite of mulberry tree bark fibre and recycled fishing-net material. The wavy shape of the diffuser is entirely handmade, giving rise to irregular patterns and elegant faux lines. It appears to be weightless, almost paper-thin, as it hangs from the ceiling. There are twin LED filament bulbs that gently diffuse light from within, adding layers of pigmented, atmospheric glow, bringing life to dining rooms, restaurants, living areas, and various cordial environments.

Bounded by Ango

Bounded is a series of individual lights that explores the idea of both freedom and restraint. The lights are unique and look right out of a comic book, but are equally impactful as a design statement in intimate settings. Originally imagined by Angus Hutcheson, each piece of suspended light is handmade from an advanced composite of mulberry fibre, organic binders, and jute. The material of the light is durable because it remains bound, collaged, and hand-painted, resulting in bright sculptures that gently transform the atmosphere they inhabit.

Folded by Ango

Handmade from mulberry tree bark fibre and tenderly folded with cocoon element, this illuminated wall light has a free form that enlivens walls in different settings. Each piece of the light is playfully shaped by hand to give the light its naturally translucent and flawlessly tactile texture. When Folded is lit up, it casts a warm, calming glow, creating a whimsical and inviting ambiance.

Orbette Medium

Orbette Medium explores the studio’s creative vision, which is based on transforming natural materials and Thai artisanal techniques into timeless sculptures of light. This light consists of two pieces, which can be used as an individual statement or as an interlinking group, subtly hinting at infinity. The light is handwoven in rattan by Ango’s in-house artisans, adding depth, warmth, and personality to a myriad of formal or casual interiors.
