In the past decade or so, robot vacuums have conquered every challenge thrown at them. Want great suction? They deliver. Need mopping? They clean floors so effectively that you’d feel as if you were walking on freshly done flooring. As for the drying of the floors, the recently revealed JONR ED12 Pro Max excels in this regard. But one aspect where robot vacuum manufacturers have had little success is conquering stairs.
While we have had brands making big promises, most of the claims have ended in failure. Case in point, Migo Ascende, whose promised stair-climbing vacuum has yet to materialize. Then we have the likes of the Qrevo Curv vacuum cleaner, launched at IFA last year. It doesn’t climb stairs, but features a lifting mechanism.
Where everyone has either underdelivered or failed, Eufy, an Anker Innovation brand, has stepped up with the Marswalker, a robot vacuum accessory that can reportedly help vacuum cleaners climb stairs with ease.
Unveiled at IFA 2025, the Marswalker resembles a miniature Mars rover, featuring a “smart crawler platform” with four independently controlled arms and a track-drive system that grips stairs for smooth ascents and descents. For those present at IFA, Eufy demonstrated this capability via a prototype. The Verge reports that the Marswalker can navigate straight, L-shaped, and U-shaped staircases, building a 3D map of your home to optimize its cleaning path.
That said, Marswalker isn’t a standalone vacuum but a shell that integrates with Eufy’s new Omni S2 robot vacuum. Unfortunately, Marswalker isn’t compatible with any third-party models. While more details are still emerging, Eufy’s innovation could redefine home cleaning for multi-level households, leaving competitors like Roborock and Eureka in dust.
In other news, Eufy has launched RoboVac Omni S2 at IFA. The vacuum cleaner boasts 30,000Pa of suction, which is an impressive figure when compared with the likes of traditional robovacs. PC Mag notes that the Marswalker requires a separate docking station for charging, in addition to the Omni S2’s base, which may demand extra floor space, a small trade-off for multi-story homes. The big news, however, is regarding its debut. Omni S2 is set for release in summer 2026 and expected to retail for around $1,600. We are not sure if it includes Marswalker or comes as a standalone unit.
