Camping tents are getting new designs and structural elements. Traditional poles are making way for air beams, case in point, Heimplanet Storm-Defying Tent and Air Station Pod-01 by Exod. But we have seldom seen a hammock tent use the air-filled poles, which is made possible with the FLFQ-Aloner’s new FLOAT Tent. It is a single-person inflatable hammock tent that can adapt to any terrain. Owing to its design, the tent can be installed on the ground or suspended in the air within a minute.

Setting up a tent on the ground or like a hammock using trees has its own limits or problems, which is, of course, the main inspiration behind the FLOAT. When you don’t have properly aligned trees, you can set it up as a 3-season ground tent or hang it with trees when you have uneven ground. The transformation only requires you to put the ground tent on the hammock base and get inside for camping mid-air.

The FLOAT Inflatable Tent is designed for a single person and supports up to 200 kg payload. Its ability to “float” as a hammock above wet or uncomfortable ground is a great advantage. What makes it different from other hammock tents is that it creates a flat, stable sleeping surface with its unique suspension system.

The company describes the FLOAT Inflatable Tent as a “pressure-balanced architecture.” Unlike traditional hammocks that bend and twist under your weight, it maintains full-body support with tension-balanced straps, 3K carbon spreader bars, and a rigid, inflated airframe. The custom-designed rope interfaces lock tension without any knots, while 3K carbon spreader bars and Ripstop Oxford fabric add stability and durability to the tent.

At the core of FLOAT is its inflatable frame that uses coated TPU air beams with sealed welds to maintain internal pressure evenly. The skeleton locks into tension within 50 seconds, which transforms soft materials into a rigid shelter. Once inflated, these beams form an engineered airframe to resist wind, impact, and shifting terrain. The flexible structure absorbs wind impact while the reinforced outer shell holds its form.

Each unit comprises two parts: an inner tent measuring 79 x 39 x 33/26 inches, making it sufficient for one person to sit or sleep inside comfortably. The second part is a 15D nylon fly that connects to the airframe through buckles for weather protection. It is built with a 5,000 mm waterproof nylon that withstands winds up to 35 m/s. The tent also comes with wind-line anchors that further absorb the pressure really well for stability. You can completely remove it for maximum airflow and open views.

Inflating the airframe and putting the structure on the ground takes only a few minutes. When it’s time to move, the FLOAT tent packs down into a compact size to fit easily in your backpack. The main tent packs into a sack, while the carbon hammock poles pack into a separate sleeve. If you like the idea of this multi-terrain camping tent, you can pre-order it for $399 on Kickstarter, with delivery slated to begin in March 2026.
