Truck campers can transform the truck bed into a more efficient, stable, and cozy living space than towing a trailer behind the vehicle. Essentially preferred by those who pursue overland exploration on rugged terrains for extended periods, flatbed truck campers are becoming a favorite for boondocking owing to their ability to carry larger water tanks, gear, and solar setups, without compromising vehicle stability. Offering even a larger and more customizable camper structure, a pioneering pop-up truck camper builder, Four Wheel Campers (FWC), has launched the Hawk+, which is making its debut at the Overland Expo West today.
Hawk+ is positioned as the company’s first fully contained flatbed pop-up camper that would empower adventurers to go farther, stay longer, and travel more comfortably. It is not prepositioned for a segment, so whether you’re just starting your quest or have seasoned yourself in overlanding escapades, you will find something for yourself in the Hawk+.

The Hawk+ is compatible with trucks with a 7-foot flatbed tray to maximize the available space in more ways than FWC has tried before, promising residents maximum comfort and performance off the grid.
The Hawk+ starts with the expanded floorspace and tons of storage space inside. The exterior doesn’t give out much about the wonderful layout indoors, which comprises a nice galley in the middle, connected to the other side, by a unique storage cabinetry that houses the 810Ah lithium battery, 40-gallon fresh water, 5-gallon gray water tank, and makes provision for kitchen supplies. On the opposite side of the kitchen, provided with a portable 2-burner induction stove (removable for outdoor cooking), fridge, and a sink, is the slot for a portable cassette toilet (optional).
The platform double bed in the cab over area nicely tucks storage underneath, while the large dinette on the opposite side seats up to four for meals and/or working on the go. In the middle of the seating is a swivel table and an indoor shower pan at the bottom, if you may. If you are wondering how many people the Hawk+ can sleep, the convertible dinette gives you a twin bed, so you can fit in four (two adults and two kids), otherwise three adults most comfortably.

Pop-up roof provides a decent standing height inside the camper, which is well ventilated with four windows in the pop-up roof and a few in the main cabin. Since the Hawk+ is built for extended travel on or off-grid, its battery is also powered by a 500W roof-mounted solar panel, and it comes with a 2000W inverter. The camper is outfitted with flashlights on all sides on the outside and has exterior 12V/120V, USB & USB-C ports, and a dedicated DC port for Starlink Mini. At the back, spanning the entire width of the camper, is the Molle rack for mounting gear and accessories you need on the trip, while an outdoor hot shower, additional storage compartments, and an awning complete the exterior facilities.
