Nestled in Gippsland, Victoria, Base Cabin is an Australian tiny house firm, responsible for creating tiny houses and cabins that harmonize with nature and provide flexible retreat away from the crowd. Designed by Melbourne-based Interior and architecture design practice Fowler & Ward and constructed by Base Cabin, the eponymous Fowler & Ward x Base Cabin tiny house is no exception. Whether you seek a cozy weekend for yourself or a short-term stay with the family, this tiny house has got your back.
Parked amid a rolling landscape of Dungog, New South Wales, the dwelling is designed with a compact and sun-bathed interior that opens to the outdoor world. Despite its 161 square feet of living space, it provides the luxury of basic amenities, including a bathroom, an expansive kitchen and living area, a loft bedroom, and a convertible bunk bed. Ideal facility for up to four people.
Measuring 19 feet in length and 8 feet wide, the exterior of the tiny house is clad in a steel frame and Colorbond, which you can upgrade to a choice of your cladding. If you love basking in the sun or enjoying the rich outdoor views from the comfort of your home, then the Fowler & Ward x Base Cabin tiny house is your doorway, thanks to its oversized bi-fold entrance door and windows that create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
What would make this appeal to the audience is its airy and sweeping kitchen and a combined living/dining at the heart of the dwelling that creates an inviting space for comfort and connectivity. The roomy kitchen has a generous bench top space for prepping meals, plentiful cabinets, and a cooktop. There is also a minimal dining table positioned nearby.
The living area flows beautifully into the kitchen. It is equipped with a storage-integrated bench seat and a profile window, allowing natural light to flow into the space. Imagine sitting in the living room and taking in the afternoon sun with a book in hand, ecstatic!
On the opposite end of the living area lies a bathroom and sleeping sections. Snooze under the stars in the cozy loft bedroom, which has room for a king-size bed. You can access the loft via stairs from the kitchen, which also doubles as a shelf. Though the room is snug and open with a window and a skylight, privacy is ensured by a lightweight mesh screen.

The Fowler & Ward x Base Cabin tiny house comes with endless customization options, including a deck, outdoor baths, Kingspan tanks, and a solar system, facilitating off-grid living. For workaholics, the bunk bed can be converted into a quiet and undisturbed office nook, if requested. This tiny house starts at AUD $134,000 ($87,249 roughly).
