If you’ve had access to popular culture in the last several years, you’ve probably heard of the ‘Tiny House Movement‘, an effort to return to a simpler way of living. Though the houses are small, the philosophy behind them is quite big. Many trace the roots of this movement back to Jay Shafer, the man who practically invented what is now known as the tiny house. And so in the last decade, Americans, Australians, Europeans, and people from other regions have been adopting this philosophy quite well. A prime example is the CAD $150,000 Gambier tiny house on wheels.

Designed by Canadian builder Rover Tiny Homes, the tiny house measures 30 feet long and 8.5 feet wide. The mobile home is built on a triple-axle trailer, allowing dwellers to make the most of the mobile lifestyle. The CAD $150,000 tiny house justifies its price tag via its attractive and sturdy exterior that combines modern durability with cozy cottage charm.

Built on a sturdy steel frame, its exterior boasts sleek Smart Lap siding with cedar shingle accents, giving it a warm yet contemporary look. A Duraclad metal roof tops the home, providing long-lasting protection and a clean architectural profile, while four skylights punctuate the roofline to invite natural light inside. Not to mention, high-performance insulation (R28 in the floor and ceiling and R14 in the walls), which enhances the exterior envelope’s efficiency, making it suitable for diverse climates.

As elegant and practical outside, the Gambier tiny house is beautiful and functional on the inside, too. The tiny house boasts a total interior area of 305 square feet (including loft space). Despite the compact size, Rover Tiny Homes has prioritized living amenities. The interior includes a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom.

As noted by New Atlas, the single entrance opens into the living area, which contains a very compact spot for a sofa or chair, with two skylights above to help maximize natural light inside. Adjacent to the living room is the sizeable kitchen. The kitchen is clad with a range of furnishings and appliances, including quartz counters and cabinets alongside a four-burner propane stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and washer/dryer combo. Not far away is the bathroom of the tiny house. Featuring a toilet, shower, and a vanity sink, the bathroom sits at the rear of the unit.

Above the bathroom lies a loft that provides sleeping space to the dwellers. Besides sleeping two people with ease, the loft bedroom offers a cozy hang-out zone to the dwellers. The tiny house also includes a main-floor bedroom opposite the bathroom. The bedroom features plenty of storage space and comes with a couple of skylights that add aesthetic value to the dwelling.

The starting price for the Gambier is quoted at CAD $150,000, which translates to US $107,000. The Gambier tiny house, given its finishes and features, is priced above ultra-budget tiny homes, but still more affordable than many conventional houses, especially in high-cost markets. Rover Tiny Homes notes that pricing may adjust if finishes are customized.
