At CES 2026, where brightness-first TV screens, smarter robot vacuum cleaners, and robotic lawn mowers are making big news, GRAVITY is silently altering the dimension of time with a new take on magnetic levitation. The brand has announced its latest creation, dubbed Universe Time, which blends timekeeping and science fiction with magnetic levitation to create a display-worthy clock for your desktop.
Universe Time is designed to rethink how time can be displayed. It’s a mile’s leap from the first levitating timepiece, and entirely different from the REMI VAN OERS’ time 2.1 Clock, which compels you to read time in dots, even though the first glance will make you believe otherwise.
The GRAVITY’s clock makes time visible through movement. This “revolutionary levitating timepiece inspired by celestial mechanics” puts the brand’s proprietary 720° Free-Floating Technology at the helm, which suspends a pointer midair at the angle, breaking the usual mold of levitating devices that rely on fixed vertical supports to keep objects suspended.
This allows the Universe Time to create an illusion of time orbiting like a planet in space. The floating metal pointer simulates both planetary rotation and revolution around the clock face, creating what the company describes as a “dynamic, directionally adjustable” display. Intentionally, Universe Time isn’t limited to Earth’s standard 24-hour cycle. You can adjust the timepiece to simulate the rotation according to the time (speed) on other planets as well.
In its CES press announcement, the GRAVITY thus describes the Universe Time as “not merely a clock, but a dynamic, directionally adjustable sculpture that turns timekeeping into a visual performance.” If you want the taste of the visual effect, because your space fantasy has already gotten you into the habit of collecting all things niche, this levitating clock should surely make a great conversation starter for your work desk.
If you’re worried about the size and how much it tips the scale. We learn that the Universe Time weighs about 900 grams and runs on a 5,000mAh lithium-ion battery. On board battery allows the clock to function wirelessly while maintaining its levitating effect. This timepiece from GRAVITY comes with a dedicated mobile app, which allows it to toggle the functions such as ambient lighting, different motion modes, and time zones.
There is no word on the price of this desktop clock, which does more than telling time by floating like a celestial body, but we believe GRAVITY will drop it real soon. Stay tuned here, we will update the article as and when we have more information coming in.
