Happier Camper (HC) trailers, popular in the US and nearby regions for the lightweight build, adaptable layout, and retro-modern style of its models, is expanding its lineup with the Traveler Summit trailer this year. Following the success of the HC1, HCT, and HC1 Studio, the Traveler Summit combines the HC1’s modular design with the larger HCT footprint, adding many creature comforts absent in its previous lineup.
The Traveler Summit boasts a curvy, two-tone fiberglass shell with Topanga Turquoise and Mojave Sage coating on its exterior. Though the construction and color choice have a retro charm, don’t let the retro aesthetic fool you. The 17-foot lightweight trailer, weighing around 1,800 pounds dry, is built for modern-day travelers. Towable by everything from SUVs to electric vehicles, it has a gross vehicle weight rating of 3,500 pounds, meaning you won’t need a monster truck to hit the open road.
The Traveler Summit, takes its signature Adaptiv system from its predecessor and pairs it with a more permanent floor plan, striking a balance between flexibility and home-like comfort. Inside, the trailer boasts 85 square feet of walkable space and 6 feet, 6 inches of standing room. Compared with traditional trailers present in the market, that’s surprisingly spacious for a trailer that’s just 13.2 feet long (17 feet with the hitch).
The interior is bathed in soft mood lighting, with five panoramic windows and a circular door window that allows the light to enter, while offering panoramic views of the outdoors. The trailer sleeps a minimum of five people, thanks to two sleeping areas: a camper-queen bed in the front and a camper-full in the rear, with optional bunk beds for extra snoozers. These spaces double as a dinette and lounge, making it a shape-shifter for your needs.
The new floor-to-ceiling console houses a full-size fridge, microwave, and cabinet, adding a touch of permanence without sacrificing the brand’s modular roots. Other highlights include a kitchen that features a dual-burner gas stove (or optional induction cooker), a sink, and a DC-powered drawer fridge. A 17-gallon fresh water tank and gray water tank keep you self-sufficient, while a solar package with 100 watts of power and a 100 Ah lithium battery lets you go off-grid without a hitch. Lastly, we have a full wet bathroom with a dry-flush toilet, shower, and fan.

As aforementioned, Happier Camper’s patented Adaptiv system is still here, letting you rearrange modular cubes on a honeycomb fiberglass floor grid. Whether you need more seating, extra storage, or a different bed setup, just shuffle the lightweight, durable cubes, and you’re good to go. It is this blend of fixed amenities and customizable flair that makes the Summit feel like a home that moves with you.
Starting at $69,950, the Traveler Summit isn’t cheap, but it’s a premium package for those who value style, versatility, and quality. For comparison, an Airstream Base Camp starts at $48,300, but it’s less modular, less retro.
